I'm pretty sure that I have read liberals praising the sincerity of Bork, Scalia and even Kavanaugh. There was a cluster of op-eds from liberal law professors during their nominations. One example of many:https://www.npr.org/2018/09/09/646018064/a-liberal-law-professor-on-his-endorsement-of-kavanaugh …

You said "many," as though this was a mainstream view among "centrists" and liberals. Of course you can find a few asshats—asshats that the vast bulk of liberals excoriated for being so naive

"incredibly brilliant, careful person … legendary" -- Neil Katyal. "Judge Kavanaugh is a brilliant jurist and he’s a very gracious person, both on the bench and off." -- Donald Verrilli

You’re at three, including known asshole Neal Katyal, who had previously been hammered for supporting Gorsuch. You are still not close to making an argument that the bulk of mainstream liberals supported Kavanaugh

Mayor Pete literally wants to create a system that would make sure that Republican judges remain the swing vote and you don't think liberals have been too wishy-washy on this?https://twitter.com/briantashman/status/1187404791888121857 …
Jeet Heer added,
Brian Tashman @briantashmanPete Buttigieg says he wants more Supreme Court justices who are like Justice Kennedy. The same Justice Kennedy who voted to uphold Trump's Muslim ban, voted for the Janus decision gutting labor unions, and voted to uphold voter suppression in Husted pic.twitter.com/zeDtWUVQpz1 reply 1 retweet 4 likes -
The way to reconcile those two statements is that his values are the values of Souter and Kennedy.
