Craig Chandler is not some random wingnut. He has close ties to the top conservatives in Alberta, including the premier. Here Chandler is calling for the collective punishment of Newfloundlanders in Alberta because their province voted Liberal.https://twitter.com/_llebrun/status/1186861347746783232 …

According to Chandler, the "innocent blood" of Newfoundlanders must be shed. He later claimed to be speaking metaphorically.https://twitter.com/_llebrun/status/1186865423976976384 …

Imagine if Trump loses the election and then a top advisor of Texas Governor Greg Abbott called for the collective punishment of everyone in Texas who came from Rhode Island. That's basically what's happening in Canada.

The key dynamic here is that a significant number powerful Canadian right-wingers are very bitter about Trudeau's win. They thought election was winnable (Liberals weakened by scandal, right-wing revved up). They aren't dealing with it well & are looking for someone to hurt.

In sum, this was not a typical Canadian election & the bitterness on the right is intense. It's going to take real skill on Trudeau's part to calm things down.

That could easily backfire. I'm reminded that the Clinton campaign thought it was smart politics to "elevate" Donald Trump in 2015.

Could Canada break up? AB and SK try to join the US? Lot of Republicans would welcome that.

It is unlikely to happen, has been threatened for many decades by various provinces. We have guidelines for separation. I doubt AB and Sask would want to join US, at least initially.

It failed to predict that the mainstream media and james comey, convinced that she was a sure thing, both would behave contrary to their duty to dishonestly and unethically attack her candidacy in order to burnish their own reputation in conservatives’ eyes
