Justin Trudeau won 51.18% in his riding, I don't know what they're talking about...

His party earned the second-most votes, but won a lot more seats than the Conservative Party. That's what they're talking about.pic.twitter.com/Zg5sFj2WNk

Not sure Canada will ever be ready for true PR. Best compromise would probably be ranked ballots to elect MP’s. Easy sell. Most parties use this system to elect their leaders
-
Ranked ballots in Canada would be a terrible idea. The centrist party (i.e. the Liberals) would inevitably win a majority every election, resulting in zero accountability. There is a reason why it was not suggested by the consultation process.

Or better yet, a ranked-choice voting system. "Proportional representation" gets you dysfunctional democracies like Israel and Italy.
-
No, ranked choice voting gets you dysfunctional democracy, ethnic tension, civil war, and agitation for independence like in Papua New Guinea. PR gets you stable democracy like NZ, Denmark, and Sweden. Two can play this game.

In proportional representation the conservatives would actually have less seats (116). Bring it on.

In recent Canadian elections, FPTP under-represents Conservatives in the East, and over-represents Conservatives in the West.
