Yes. We need more evidence that they will be close to 170 and won't have to share with multiple parties. That said, it's technically right that it is too early to call minority gov. Would be better to talk of plurality. CBC does have good internal exit polls.

Nah, Canada, with the exception of a weird one over conscription in WWI, doesn't really do coalitions. But they do do minority governments that rely on support from smaller parties to win votes.

It's pretty crazy how someone like Singh at the start of election season had no chance of becoming prime minister in Canada, but a Sanders or Warren have a decent shot of becoming President in America.

A minority government doesn’t need to form a coalition in order to govern. So long as they can get the votes of 171 MPs in a confidence motion. Harper’s first government was a minority with no coalition.
