1) that was in the USA which actually DOES have a two party system. 2) Voter turnout was 55%, likely stemming from point 1. 3) as long as we all vote how we want there is no chance of a CPC majority they only have 30% support.

Depends on the riding. In some places that approach makes sense. But if Liberals and CPC are neck in neck in a riding, a vote for NDP could give the seat to CPC.

Counterpoint: The NDP would look at what happened to Germany's SDP and fear that the same thing could happen to them if they agreed to form a coalition with the center, as it would sacrifice their left-wing base.
