The actual removal-from-office vote is still very likely to fail. Meaning the value of impeachment is primarily political here: draw public attention to his crimes and disrupt him as best you can. Quick and focused does little of that, then you lose in the Senate.

They could have held the vote the day after he released the "transcript" or after he admitted to his wrongdoing and did it again on the White House lawn. But look at all the new crimes (hellooooooooo Rudy!) we've shaken out by continuing to investigate!
