Moby Dick about male friendship? It seems like it does in the beginning but it’s really the ultimate workplace novel. No one really likes anyone and they all die in the end except for the big fish.

Kingsley Amis' "Lucky Jim" (1954) [note cover by Edward Gorey] is a lighthearted delight. The baddies get their just deserts, and no one gets killed.pic.twitter.com/TePQ8AbRpJ
