4. "Joker" is, in truth, a mediocre movie but there's some interesting ideas behind it, one of which is to return the dark, gritty superhero to it's place & time of original origin, the Martin Scorsese Extended Universe of Taxi Driver & King of Comedy.
5. The Scorsese homage plays into the (surprisingly strong) class warfare sensibility of "Joker." The origins of the Joker as an anti-social psycho is located in the very birth of neoliberalism amid the deindustrialization and tanking of the great American cities in the 1970s
