I think just the act of doing a long profile + accompanying professional photoshoot on someone inherently gives a gravitas to the subject that has implications for mainstreaming them and their opinions no matter how disparagingly the piece ultimately comes down on them.

I've heard that crtiique a lot, including from plenty of people I respect, but no one's explained to me who this reader is who is gonna be convinced by a dapper photo of McInnes that he's a good guy! I think belief/affiliation is a lot more complex
