No, @heerjeet, it's not just about Trump being punished for his "heterodoxy." It's because Russiagate & impeachment are poor substitutes for an actual political agenda that could beat DJT. https://www.thenation.com/article/trump-impeachment-democrats/ …

Opposition to plutocratic corruption is a political agenda -- and a traditionally left one going back to the 18th century.

in other words, it’s a thin agenda, a floating signifier

Were the chapters on Clinton corruption in "My Turn" a thin agenda and floating signifier?

the book was mostly a political critique of a centrist agenda, as well as a catalog of what made her a bad candidate

You documented at some length her buckraking as a way to discredit her centrist agenda (as did Bernie when he brought up her paid speeches). But for some reason you don't think it's possible to use Trump's corruption to discredit his right-wing agenda.

It's completely different. Trump's supporters generally don't like him, and think his obvious corruption is a price worth paying to get what they want. Clinton's liberal fans generally DO like her, and simply denied her obvious corruption. Not the same.

Bernie doesn't agree. He's often made the argument to the effect that Trump promised to help ordinary Americans but he's just enriching himself. It's a compelling argument.

Bernie might well have said that, but he's not always right. Psephology tells us that the people who voted for Romney are, overwhelmingly, the same people who voted for Trump. A few working class voters in the 'rust belt' voted Trump 'cos they wanted tariffs, which they got.

OK they like him, but not 'cos they think he's a moral being. Clintonistas genuinely believed Clinton was a morally good person. Trumpists like him, generally, because they think he's a rogue, someone who doesn't obey the rules.
