If the term has finally reached the NYT, that's a watershed of sorts. If I'm not mistaken, for a long time the term "neoliberal" was practically non-existent in NYT, even after it had become quite commonplace in UK Guardian. Likely bec of idiosynchratic use of 'liberal' in the US
