Kate McKinnon also did a terrific Jeff Sessions.

Brilliant casting. I hardly ever watch it any more, so I missed that.

McKinnon carries that show. Norm MacDonald, Chris Farley, Adam Sandler and Chris Rock were some of the best cast members ever - not just in the 90s.

MacDonald is one of the funniest humans alive IMO.* Dennis Miller was also very good. Of course many of those who liked him when have now cropped him out of the photo for bad politics... *see his moth joke on YouTube

I haven't cropped him out, but he's gotten way too ideological to be funny anymore. A great comedian *cough* Dave Chapelle *cough* is one who's hilarious even when you disagree.

But Shane Gillis doesn't even qualify as a bad comedian due to the fact that Jeet doesn't consider what he does to be comedy.

Comedy is like art. Serrano can put a crucifix in a puddle of his own piss, but he can't make Jeet like it.

Kenny G does nothing for me,. but he makes his living playing the sax, so of course I acknowledge him as a musician, even if that makes me uncomfortable about answering a tricky question.

I think there are a lot of right-wingers who are funny -- and in fact have repeatedly argued that (and edited 16 volumes of Harold Gray's Little Orphan Annie to make the point). Waugh & Anthony Pound were hilarious. I haven't found any humor in Gillis, alas.

That does not mean that he's not a comedian, which is the point I just made. Plus it's hard to believe you know the work of such an obscure comic well enough to declare he's not a comic.

I listened to some of it when the scandal broke. I was underwhelmed. Mea culpa. But since SNL is mostly bad, he's probably no worse than the norm for the show.
