"Think tanks" are a relic of the Cold War, pre-internet era that will slowly wither away in a generation. They were mostly staffed w. folks who couldn't get tenure at top tier research universities and summarized work done by other scholars anyway

@HeerJeet's article on think tanks and the pres race, I want to emphasize the phrase that I am "more muted" in my criticism. That's very true, perhaps an understatement. Just to emphasize my own observations in the piece: 1/ -
First, it's remarkable how far daring campaigns, not limited to Warren's, have been on specific, innovative policy, usually pretty soundly done. That presents a challenge to think tanks, or the subset of them that thinks our mission is to put out-there ideas on the agenda 2/

Great piece! Perhaps the next speaker should seriously consider rebuilding the intellectual/ policy analysis infrastructure of Congress. This might weaken the influence of big donors via think tanks.
