Memo to The New Yorker: if you want to get novelists to write on climate/ecology, there are some great ones out there: Kim Stanley Robinson, @paolobacigalupi & @MargaretAtwood among others.https://twitter.com/henryfarrell/status/1171110223089668096 …

Or building on your thought, one could unclose the circle by opening out to Jameson’s influence on his student Stan Robinson, whose novels provide a kind of anti-Franzen, carefully thinking through the collective impact of global warming in human and material terms.

The politics in KSM's Mars trilogy absolutely blew my mind and I wholeheartedly agree with these recommendations

🤨🤔I'll put it this way: I wish I'd kept this 1990s SF Eye issue that had an article noting that *how humanity **gets** to Mars* is key as to whether the politics in KSM's trilogy is fanciful or mind-blowingly realistic..😐

🤔From what I've read of Stan Robinson's Science In The Capitol, I'm very skeptical he'd be better than Mr. Franzen. But Mr. Bacigalupi & Mrs. Atwood, for sure...

I think Stan Robinson and Kim Stanley Robinson are one and the same. Everyone just calls him Stan.

Lordy I so desperately want to read Kim Stanley Robinson's essays in the New Yorker. He's just tremendous.
