1. Should celebrate David Koch's philanthropy? No, you can't really praise charity without asking where the money came from. Theodore Roosevelt: “No amount of charities in spending such fortunes can compensate in any way for the misconduct in acquiring them.”

David Koch may have made billions while giving lots of people cancer, but he also used a small fraction of that money to have his name on a building that researches cancer, so it's impossible to say if he was bad or not

Is it worth pointing out that his money led to no real advancements in the treatment of cancer? Paradoxically, big money in cancer research might prevent advancement because it goes to all the wrong things (ie, genetic research, which has proved to be a dead end).

He gave money to cure his cancer. That is why you have taxes and not philanthropy, so everyone's cancer gets a chance to be cured.

Hewitt’s a clown with the most uncomfortable forced smile I’ve ever seen. I shut off my TV and rage-ate chocolate every time he appeared on

Saying a Koch brother "Gave money to cancer research" is a bit like saying Bill Gates "Gave money to personal computer research"

I want to know how much of his money went to actual research, and how much went to litigation, marketing, and CEOs. Always research your charities.
