One thing that would convince me Biden is in trouble is if you saw concerted efforts by party elites to throw their weight behind another relatively moderate candidate. Not sure who that would be though. Klobuchar is the most plausible but her performance has been meh so far.

Buttigieg might be the most prominent center lane type left. I doubt that the center lane types will fall in for him because of age and being gay.

Correct Harris (semi), O’Rourke, Booker (sorta), klobuchar. None of them. Also centrist in this case is a misnomer. Conventional center left/ liberal is more apt

I feel like there should be a position for someone to run as "Obama-Democrat-But-Not-Getting-A-Bit-Forgetful-In-Old-Age." But so far, voters don't seem to think so.

Most of them have focused their attacks on Sanders and Warren instead of Biden. The problem is that those attacks are unpersuasive to Sanders/Warren supporters, and while they’re persuasive to some Biden supporters they just make those voters more solid Biden supporters.
-
The problem for all these Biden alternatives is that why should voters switch to you when Biden still does the best in head to head matchups?

Isn't that a good sign that it's not the moderate policy profile as much as the name rec/perceived electability that is benefitting Uncle Joe?

Can we stow the “centrist” silliness. I mean, Joe Manchin —is an actual centrist.
