Say what you want about Nixon or Reagan. It's impossible to imagine Nixon trying to censor Dirty Harry or Reagan trying to censor Red Dawn. The world is just getting stupider and stupider.

Try making a movie about Catholic Inquisitors from Spain raping and torturing Jews during the medieval period nowadays. No one in Hollywood would want to touch a subject like that, let alone any studio in a majority-Christian country.

Anyway the film cost 20 million, which is peanuts by Hollywood standards. If it had had a budget in the nine figures and was based on a popular superhero franchise, there is no way it would have been withdrawn.

The “funny” thing is that part of the delay is related to it being so soon after mass shootings. With that kind of decision making process, the movie will never see the light of day in the US because we all know that mass shootings are practically monthly occurrences now.

Uh, I don't think Blumhouse is particularly interested in echoing anyone's "political worldview." It's business model (and a pretty successful one) is making a hell of a return on investment on low-budget horror movies by any means necessary.

Stupid people censoring stupid movies is both tragic (given the effect it could have on freedom speech, though FOS doesn't technically apply to Hollywood studios) and hilarious at the same time.
