Re-casting boycotts (a venerable democratic tradition) as harassment is a way of entrenching the power of the wealthy, who will now have the right to fund whatever racism or extremism they want without being held accountable by their fellow citizens.https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/1159679458628046848 …

    Jeet Heer added,

Trump’s opponents want to name his big donors. But his supporters say it’s harassment: “I’ve had people say, ‘Hey, we were going to use you for business, but we found out you’re a racist. We hope that you burn in hell and your business will go with you.’” https://nyti.ms/2yPaKJj

I’m old enough to remember when right wingers were boycotting Heinz ketchup because they didn’t like John Kerry’s wife.

Not even sure that all of them necessarily want to be funding extremism or racism, but it's significant that they're willing to in order to protect their access to power and their tax breaks, and they don't want that known.

So if all these corporate trumpers are so certain that he’s the majority of America’s choice, why are they so panicked that they’ll lose all their business?

Double standard is even worse than it looks. Clinton Foundation was not pay to play. NYT & WaPo printed excerpts from Bannon/Mercers' HC hit job book Clinton Cash that lied & alleged pay to play w/o evidence. NYT drowned out HC message w email coverage https://medium.com/@upine/superior-use-of-science-and-technology-won-the-2016-election-6cc098f3bf7e …

The only reason this is an issue is because Trump donors are ashamed of what they are doing and are looking for a way to mask their shame.
