Even if you removed the electoral college, You still wouldn't have a democracy since the Government uses market mechanisms to regulate popular perspectives and sentiments.

I mean Trump's 40% is a large group. Fix anti-democratic probs you point out, and this group still here. Sure, they lose election, but 15% is enough to create big issues. How much more 40%?
