Both-siderism is certainly a thing he relies on, no?

If they were to confront him aggressively every single time he came out about things that happened in the past week? Even if say 5 days had past? Any other president would have had to deal with this. He doesn’t because there’s a new shiny object every day.

There are plenty of "non-movement" journos whose both sideism takes on covering politics makes their coverage bad. If one side of the debate is moderate and the other is extremist - you don't then move the needle in between those two to find the average and report in the middle.
-
But this is literally how a ton of political coverage is done. The idea that where democrat policy currently stands and where republican currently stands are in any way equal sides of a coin is disingenuous at best and outright lying to your readership at worst.

Re #2: because each & every one will continue to treat tRUmp as if he were any other GOP President. Same kind of fawning questions, strategy analysis, poll tracking, etc. in the name of "both sides", "fair" reporting.

Exactly. "Objective" journalists are more worried about being labeled "biased liberals" than about covering him as a man not only unfit for the job but dangerous to American democracy - in the same way they treat McConnell as a simple partisan.

It's not his whole strategy. But, his strategy certainly relies upon it being so.

It's probably not part of his "strategy", but it's an ingredient that needs to be baked into his reelection cake.
