Isn't there a difference between running Bernie Sanders (a candidate with his own brand that is distinct from socialist label) and running a generic socialist? I wouldn't say that Bernie's popularity is transferable to other socialists outside already very blue areas.

He wants government to take over massive parts of the private sector (health care, consumer finance), which seems pretty ord. socialist to me. Bernie Bros have a lot in common w. Trumpists--they're motivated by resentment of the modern world and look to the solutions of the 30s.
