Saw Once Upon a Time in Hollywood last night. Loved it. In the Tarantino catalog, Jackie Brown is the closest to it in tone. Career-best performances by DiCaprio & Pitt, a ton of fab noncliche 60s pop on the soundtrack, & the Tate material is handled brilliantly & movingly.

Jackie Brown is the best one. The pacing, Pam’s creativity in executing her plan, all of it, just so good.

I like or love all of Tarantino's films except for The Hateful Eight, which I thought was vile. Jackie Brown is definitely one of my favorites and now OUATIH is too.
-
JACKIE BROWN is also one of my faves, and hearing that OUATIH is closest to it in tone is probably the most encouraging review I could have heard. Doubts washed away, thanks! Also, OUATIH would make a great title for a horror movie about an ancient evil spirit. Beware Ouatih!!

Jeet, once you've seen it, I'd be curious to know what you think. In some ways it's a very Gen X film. It casts a cold fucking eye on the hippies, for sure.

The Tate stuff was handled tastefully? Not sure I agree with that. But I do agree this was quite a good movie.

I never said tastefully. I would never ever use a weaselly, bourgeois descriptor like tasteful. Read what I wrote instead of making up things I didn't.
