2. The danger is Trump 2.0 -- a Republican politician who, at some point down the line, takes the Trumpian formula but does it in a more competent and effective way, without Trump's personality flaws & lack of discipline.

3. One interesting thing about last week's the National Conservatism conference is that it gives us some idea of what Trump 2.0 would look like. It would be a Trump who goes in with a think tank infrastructure and policy wonks with ready-to-implement ideas on day one.

4. There are various possibilities for Trump 2.0 -- Tucker Carlson, Tom Cotton. In the National Conservatism conference, I thought Missouri Senator Josh Hawley made a credible bid for the role: he's young, smart, policy savvy.

THIS. This is why when the Dems get power back they need to change things to prevent another trump from happening. They need to add DC & PR as states, kill the filibuster if necessary, expand SCOTUS, anything legal to prevent another trump.
