In politics it's normal to have surrogates who aren't elected officials. She should have surrogates who aren't 120 years old or implicated in police brutality.

She's also a leader within the wider Democratic party and her choice of surrogates reinforces a sense of someone who is out of touch with the younger parts of her party, if not openly contemptuous of them.
