Right -- I think Cuomo is one model going forward, along with a generational shift as AOC/Caban types replace Crowley/Katz types. We'll see both patterns happening.

The idea that yuppies in Astoria voted for Cabán/Nixon ideologically whereas working class black voters in Jamaica voted “transactionally” for Katz/Cuomo strikes me as incredibly patronizing
-
Especially considering turnout was so low that turnout is almost certainly not a cross-section of the demographics.

What is the argument here about pragmatism? Working class voters support establishment pols but will switch to progressives if they deliver things the working class electorate didn’t vote for?

I lived in America for 28 years before the 2016 election. I prob. heard the term “working class” about six times before Trump’s victory. Suddenly it was a thing!

i think they might just be more conservative, especially if you are talking about older voters in that demographic

Remind me, how many years you lived as a member of the working class? Presumably, decades, to have acquired such deep knowledge of their thoughts & desires.

fake progressives are the ones on thin ice. a lot of empty promises are being thrown around by 'progressive' candidates, knowing they haven't a chance in hell in succeeding with 90% of what they are selling. it will backfire and voters will be pissed.
