3. Biden's 2003 eulogy for Strom Thurmond deserves to be read carefully: it's a very clear articulation of Biden's view that politics is all about leaders of different ideologies coming together in friendship to solve problems. That's what Biden believes.
4. Biden's philosophy -- which shouldn't be dismissed lightly -- is that America is a divided country (by race, class, region etc) & politicians represent these division but when they form friendship they can find areas of commonality & solve problems.

You're making a category error there. If someone in my orbit is racist, yeah, I have to engage with them to make a change - but if they have power over the lives of other people and they're not changing, then we need to remove them from power.
