"On race/identity Hillary ran to the left of Obama" her considerable baggage (super-predators etc) made her a bad carrier for this message, something GOP & Russian propaganda exploited to discourage African-American voters, especially young ones.

Again, to back that up, do you have any of those exotic artifacts known as “numbers?” Jeet, have you ever canvassed, or watched a focus group? Over the last ten years, have you spoken to any Americans not in greater NYC & not on Twitter?

Dana, you're defending a campaign that had the worst Democratic Party electoral showing since 1988 against a realty show buffoon who boasted on tape of grabbing women by the pussy. Do you need numbers to know that campaign fucked up?

She won the popular vote. Maybe it’s hard to win third terms and trump didn’t quite underperform enough. Dems did well last two years in any case, so doesn’t seem like there’s a permanent problem w their approach...

The popular vote and $2 won't get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Dems performed well in last 2 years because Trump is widely hated. He was widely hated in 2016 too but Clinton managed to lose to him, which suggests a flawed campaign strategy.

Or maybe hated incumbents work somewhat differently. (Lots of research suggests they do)

HRC's campaign was plainly flawed. But wasn't its central message – its only message? – that Trump is a volatile nightmare person? If anything she probably dwelled on it too much. He had no record. It was an abstraction.pic.twitter.com/LkDMxgnaOt

Idk...she had a lot morepolixy specifics than trump, and was less focused on him personally than he was on her by a lot.

Her discussion of Trump's danger was diluted by her insistence of presenting herself as a hawkish Democrat. Asked in 2015 who her enemy was, she said "the Iranians." Do you think that's a good message?

also...it's kind of ridiculous to argue the election hinged on FP, imo. despite the left trying for decades, there's little evidence the electorate cares much about FP, unless we lose a war.

The question isn’t whether HRC’s message about Iran in 2015 was good. The question is what does her 2015 statement on Iran have to do with...anything?

If you go to the beginning of this idiotic thread you'll see it began with me tweeting about Trump's policy right now. And then someone jumped in complaining about people who portrayed Trump as a peacenik. This provoked me to note that Clinton's campaign is more to blame.pic.twitter.com/RPnmCRMrSl
