I think climate scientists are more trustworthy in terms of gauging likely outcomes than centrist and conservative pundits.

Right. Given that we have ten years left on Earth we’d better get on with EMPing China and building 1k nuclear power plants, science’s replication and causation crisis notwithstanding

Which climate scientist says we have 10 years left on earth? This conversation would be more productive if you engage with what people actually write.

Climate scientists, in my reading, neither say that we have 10 years left nor that climate change is likely to destroy the basis of human civilization. They say that it's a big, hopefully manageable problem that has some severe long-tail risks.

I don't see any difference between what Ross wrote & what I did, except that I think that for prudential reasons we have to take "severe long-tail risks" seriously.

I trust the science but what's your thoughts on the fact that action by the U.S wouldnt really matter? It's all about China reducing their emissions

If there is a collective action problem (as there is) then each party can effect ultimate outcome by pushing forward in a productive manner, which is best way to encourage other parties to do.
