MEN IN BLACK was just $8 on iTunes so I bought it and we’re watching it. It’s been years since I’ve seen this movie and I wasn’t sure if it held up. It totally does! Starts off extremely strong establishing the world and the rules and the vibe.

Men in Black 2 is enjoyable but it would have been way better had they focused more on the romance between Agent J and Laura. Men in Black 3 was wonderful but I kinda have a hard time treating it as a legit prequel to the series.

Should go back to working with the Cohen Bros.

Le sigh. Blood Simple is VERY beautifully shot.

I agree with this theory. I’d love to see someone do a serious study of flawed craftsmen filmmakers like Sonenfeld, Di Palma, Bigelow, etc.

If you'd settle for a semi-serious study, I'd recommend

Wild Wild West was such a disaster that it probably killed his big budget opportunities outside of MiB sequels, and it probably didn't help that he followed it with Big Trouble, a film that made $8.5 million on a $40 million budget.
