People who think politics maps on easily to literature should consider Gene Wolfe. His reactionary Catholicism suffuses his work. Yet most of those who love his work don't share his politics or theology while reactionary Catholics are only dimly aware of his work.

I would love to read a piece on Wolfe's theology. But the general Catholic lack of awareness of his work is striking. I mean he's a figure who should be up there with Waugh, Greene, F. O'Connor or Endo.
