Conviction requires 67 Senators?
-
Not a strong argument. The narrative is Ds are rule of law, gop want a dictator above the law. 2nd, all politics is local. McConnell couldn't hold his entire caucus together. There may not be conviction, but there will be some vulnerable gop who side with Ds. and trump will lose.

It's still "it will weaken the democrats to impeach the president if the Senate fails to convict" and that one is getting less and less interesting with every passing minute.
-
I think "it's a lot of house time and resources to spend on something that'll have a predictable outcome" is in there as well, although I'd be interested to know what would have to be foregone in order to pursue impeachment.

I suppose the best case is: the Senate won't convict, and the political blowback will possibly not only re-elect Trump and retain the Senate, but the Dems lose the House again.

Yeah. Have to think Pelosi just looking at numbers. Support for impeachment is below 40% among population as a whole. Right around 40% for independents. Those numbers start to shift and bring more politicians onboard, she will change her mind.
