It's interesting to re-read Hamlet, a play about a kingdom under an illegitimate ruler, festering under lies since there is a vast system of courtiers trained to flatter him and ignore the truth, where pointing out the truth is a ticket to being called mad.

of course there is significance to that, but I wouldn’t put it forth the play being about that, just as it’s not really about political legitimacy, if anything it suggests a connection between politcal power and willingness to murder, but that rather harder to aim at repubs only
