Sporadic instances of right-wing violence have occurred for hundreds of years. Random violence in general is simply a constant of American life. But rather than deal rationally with this reality, emotional manipulators whip up grand narratives to serve their political interests

Honest question: do you really not see that "sporadic instances of right-wing violence" (lynchings & cross burnings) were instrumental for maintaining white supremacy in the century after slavery?

I don't view organized, coordinated lynchings and cross burnings, carried out by political organizations often with the backing of law enforcement, as falling into the "sporadic" category

Okay, now we're getting somewhere. Racist violence is particularly bad if it has the sanction of the political organizations & the state, right? Now ponder Trump's "very fine people," pardons for war criminals who killed Iraqis & call for border control to get rough.
