1. I keep thinking about this amazing thread. It sheds light on the Dem leadership decision to slow-walk or stall impeachment. The main argument is a political one (impeachment meaningless unless GOP on board). Does it hold?https://twitter.com/justinamash/status/1129831615952236546 …

4. This is the political possibility that stalling impeaching forecloses: the opportunity to reach Republicans (both in congress and out) who might be persuadable. There aren't many but it's valuable to create a wedge: https://twitter.com/maxberger/status/1129847914413645824 …

Impeachment proceedings will take place, but a Senate vote will not.

Worth pointing out as well that Larry Hogan Sr's famous flip (the first GOP member of the Judiciary Committee to openly support Nixon's impeachment) came about a fortnight before Nixon resigned. Right up to late July 1974 the GOP was lockstep behind Nixon. Stuff moved fast.

Floor votes are not the only primary sources that exist. History will record what Republicans do either way.

Her stalling has allowed this to happen, not foreclosed on it. No Republican would join a Pelosi-led impeachment. GOP must lead.
