China presents such a big disconnect. A large chunk of the national security/trade world sees China as an expansionist power akin to Nazi Germany. Many coastal Dems by contrast see a peaceful trading partner.

Matt is good on trade etc. but he has a bee in his bonnet about China. Even an implicit comparison with Nazi Germany is preposterous (hint: check what side the Chinese were on in WW2. American suffering from the Japanese (an Axis power) was as nothing compared to the Chinese).

I don't think Americans realise how staggeringly offensive it is to the Chinese (or the Russians for that matter) to compare them to the Nazis when one looks at how much the Chinese/Russians suffered from Axis powers.

They need to secure their supply chains, energy and food. China is not self-sufficient. Watch for them to move on territory in their near abroad and surrounding waters. China-India border and maybe parts of Central Asia with good farmland a target.
-
They're just buying African land instead.
