This thread is a good critique of Bernie Sanders' letter about Center for American Progress & Think Progress. I think its important to make a distinction between CAP & TP.https://twitter.com/rmc031/status/1117458405873078272 …

I'm not denying that. But of course people make the same kinds of criticisms of Washington Post coverage of Amazon. It's not exactly parallel, but I don't think the two cases are completely distinct.

Like, my basic point is that almost everyone is in some sense beholden to very rich people, but in complicated ways that aren't as simple as "liberal think tanks are actually mouthpieces for the ultra-rich"

That’s some pretzel logic to question income sources to an organization being corrupt automatically. But money that comes into a family through a direct family members somehow is exempt. I and most ppl won’t buy that pretzels logic. You will convince no one already not w/ you

A sample size of one event as a stand in for all other examples is pretty non academic as you can get. This has so low value - that I have never even used this in an online argument. But for the stats they really don’t support your think. Your take relies on innuendo selling itpic.twitter.com/i7tlaB7Fwr

Maybe you should judge the think tank in question by their work and not by your jealousy bc they’re better at fundraising than your buddy
