He didn't want to say her name because she's a hyperpartisan figure who relishes ruffling the feathers of everybody who doesn't share her opinion. That's not his brand, and he wants no association with it.

Twitter Democrats are falling into a trap. She's a highly unpopular figure -- toxic even -- and the ire she provokes is a feature, not a bug. She's put the party in a difficult place, and if she suffers politically, then good.

I think we need to take a beat before such harsh condemnation when a candidate actually makes clear statements condemning the exact thing Trump's doing with regard to 9/11 and Omar. In combination with his later tweet this is among the strongest and clearest.
