5. As far as I know, very few people on the contemporary right read Wyndham Lewis (and certainly not his very toxic 1930s tracts) so fact that the same set of ideas gets replicated today suggests they are structurally necessary (also other avenues of influence than Lewis).
6. I do think we need an intellectual genealogy of the far right which traces the impact the 1930s fascists & fascist fellow travellers had on subsequent generations. As far as I know, no one has written this.
This is relevant to my interests
Lot of fellow travelers on the left, too, who seem to think that Vladimir Putin is misunderstood, and all criticism of him comes from bloodthirsty warmongers.
Kind of wonder what equivalent of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact is out there nobody's telling us about.
In the same way, I stumbled on Robert G. McCloskey, "Conservatives, Businessmen, and Blatherskites," Harvard Business Review (Sep-Oct 1956). He describes the "authentically American conservative tradition" - and highlights today's warped & twisted "conservatism" in the process
