Umm, yes. And lots more on this since. Of course the Dan Simmons Hyperion novels have already taken this and run with it before Wolfe came on the scene.

Not sure I agree with you 100% on your chronology work there, Lou. Wolfe had published 11 novels before Hyperion came out.
