It really is. One detail I didn't have room for in the piece is that the last book Meatyard read before he died was The Pound Era.

I get why Kenner migrated to Jerry Pournelle's BYTE magazine now. when it was on, he must have felt that world-changing synergy between introverts.

Yeah, Kenner was an early computer nerd. Might be one reason he and Davenport drifted apart (Davenport was a Luddite). In their last letter, Kenner asks GD if he has mail yet.
