America would be in much better shape if guys like Biden & Obama stopped reading Brooks and read Pat Buchanan, Ann Coulter or the writings of the late Samuel T. Francis. Then they'd know what they are up against.https://twitter.com/jeneps/status/1107064916261912582 …

"I get criticized for this as well," Biden says before referring to David Brooks. Says Brooks is a "brilliant writer."

Was in a off the record thing with Obama and brooks and a few other writer types early in the admin. Was very clear brooks had a real hold on O.

Maybe bc there were so few Republicans (Brooks) willing to denounce GOP racism, partisanship, etc. That O found him intriguing if not useful ten yrs or more ago.

I don’t see it as purely negative. I think he saw him as a good faith interlocutor on the other side of the partisan divide, a bridge for common ground. I think that was a mistaken impression on a few fronts.

It was an excusable mistake in 2008 and for a bit thereafter. But we have to be more clear-eyed now.

Just how hard would Democrats have to hammer Republicans in elections at all levels before they’d swear off Trumpism?

Did Obama read all the horseshit Brooks wrote about that war he supposedly would have voted against? Maybe he saw a fellow in David’s preachy elitism.
