We need an elderly socialist caretaker president to hold shit down until Millennials and Zs are constitutionally old enough to govern. Don’t trust anyone over 40 and under 70. Or something like that.

I do need encouragement, but also need help finding the answer to the question, "Why weren't we socialists?" (We being v late Boomers and Gen X who were well to the left of Clintonites or New Dems, thought we had a more ambitious vision, but shared some of the same constraints

Me too, but we were the outliers. There was no Jacobin analogue; Dissent was run by people fixated on antiCommunism; DSA existed in some rump form and had no profile; between Jackson '88 and Nader '00, there was no serious left presidential candidate.
