Quite telling re our era that an editor at a “significant” publication (@HeerJeet @newrepublic ) can survive in the role despite this kind of online behavior. Where are the adults? https://twitter.com/toadmeister/status/1105890479902785541 …

I should be nicer to someone who has a long history of using slurs against other people? Why?

Going into someone’s past, digging up old dirt and then using it to harm them is really shitty behaviour. It’s the kind of thing we need to stop doing. It sucks whether you’re doing it to Sarah Jeong, Tucker Carlson, or Toby. You are being a bully. Please stop.

Young is a public figure. He has a long history of making cruel and bigoted comments, almost always directed against people wth far less power than he has. Why should he not be treated accordingly?

I have followed you and have repeatedly seen your approach, which is entirely general, apart from Young. The criticism stands.

I'm sorry but this one-way civility fetishism (ignoring Young's long history of bigotry & tut-tutting me for using strong language in criticism him) is a good example of how elites avoid accountability. It's fitting that you are at Harvard.

I guess you can’t help yourself. There is no accountability that I wish to avoid, and my interest in civility is not a fetish. End.
