No, that's definitely true. But since you went to UofT you probably don't see how differently people react to a degree from there vs a degree from a lower-tier school, regardless of the quality of education on offer.

Yeah, this. Exactly. Except the huge difference is that legitimately anyone with good enough high school grades has a shot at UofT because admissions are based on Ontario's central admissions system/grades, not donations + legacy + mystery magic.

I went to uoft and Concordia and the quality of teaching at uoft was much better I felt. It's hard to tell though because it depends on what prof you happen to have.

I went to uOttawa which is theoretically a 'good' school but the quality of teaching was super hit-or-miss. That being said UofT employs JP so...

So many people who did undrgrad at U of T talked about feeling like a number in an ocean of people. Smaller schools with smaller class sizes offer a better and more intimate education.
