In terms of material harm or actual injustice it's way down on the list, but one bad thing about the grotesque Ghostbusters discourse over the past few years is that now the righteous position is to act like the original movie was bad.

I think you are not viewing it in the context of the times. In 1984 it was much more original than it appears in the rear view mirror. Making the EPA bureaucrat the bad guy was inspired.

The EPA bureaucrat might have been an ass, but he was right! If the containment unit explodes in the middle of Manhattan upon a power failure...it's probably a bad thing.

I loved ithe original. The re-make was meh.The hullabaloo around the remake was misogynistic & vicious.

It was monumental when I saw it in 6th grade, and there are numerous classic quotes, but it drags in some places, and a couple of the main characters are mostly forgettable.

It's not great. It's pretty lazily written as a comedy and almost entirely dependent on Bill Murray mugging and wisecracking in scenes more than anything else. I watched it recently and Rick Moranis steals it completely.
-
Compare it to Stripes, Meatballs, or Groundhog Day, and it's the weakest Murray-Ramis movie. Only Ghostbusters 2 is worse.
