A lot of this is straight from Burnham, although Burnham was ambivalent about Bonapartism and a populist right.

The differences between the two were, to my mind, as interesting as Francis' debt to Burnham. Burnham, coming out of an elite background, preferred elite figures (Rockefeller, even McNamara) to populists. He couldn't embrace the logic of his positions.
