No. And one of those boys was black and being taunted by the Black Israelites.
Eric Levitz Retweeted
Assuming that the boys in this video are indeed the Covington lads, is this not fairly dispositive evidence that our initial impression of how they were behaving that day was largely correct? https://twitter.com/roflinds/status/1087486166939680768 …
Eric Levitz added,
That they were rowdy is not denied. But I won’t stop you from defending yourself by saying: “Hey we lied about these kids mobbing someone, and doxxed the wrong people. but here’s another unverifiable accusation that makes me feel better”
Doing a Tomahawk whoop to a Native man seems to me considerably worse to me than "rowdy"
Some of the students said they thought he was coming to support them. Guess when the death threats started coming in they learned otherwise.
The guy they did the Tomahawk chant to was not making death threats. I live in a city where the largest minority group are Natives. I would be mortified if my kids grew up thinking it was okay do to a Tomahawk chant.
tbf, our society does teach kids that such things are basically fine. (See: The traditional cheers of the Atlanta Braves, Washington Redskins, innumerable high-school sports teams that have Native American mascots, etc...)
It's a little bit different here in Canada because Natives are a much bigger part of the population (about two and a half as large per capita) & so these issues have a much larger salience.
