Teenage boys in large groups often tend to behave cruelly. It's no excuse -- they should be reprimanded and made to understand why what they did was wrong -- but the scene itself is really familiar. Just happens to have a political overtone in this instance.

You're right, it wasn't. My tweet was an observation about the tendency of teenage boys to behave cruelly when in large groups, and in this case the cruelty manifested as racist taunting. As usual, your first instinct was to engage invidiously.

Their actions were so overly racist that it seems purposive to describe them as "political" instead

I would speculate that their insistence was predicated by your initial avoidance. Unless you were not choosing your words carefully, "political overtone" would appear to have been carefully chosen.

What's up with demanding everyone list every qualifier in every tweet?

How is it racist when someone walks up to you beating a drum and you just stand your ground and stare at him. Are you required to dance along ?

How does the original tweet excuse racism or pass this off as not racist? Hes describing a racist act as cruel, and saying groups of teen boys are prone to such cruelty. I.e. a suggestion that theres maybe a big problem to be solved with boys..
@gillette can you help me out here? -
one might even be daring enough to use their own mind to think and expand beyond his 240-character tweet and wonder if addressing this problem in boys might be a place to stop the normalization of racism at the source...Or one might just use the opportunity to flex on the guy?
