The only good things the American right has given the world are Hugh Kenner's The Pound Era (1971) and Whit Stillman's Metropolitan (1990). Everything else is bullshit.

Kenner is right to argue, in The Pound Era, that the great innovation of the 20th century is the fragmented epic poem that combines lyrical observation with historical sweep. The only problem is The Pound Era is a better example of the genre than Pound's Cantos.
