Depends on how it's done. I think Trudeau's implementation offers a better model than, say, Macron's.

Support for carbon tax in Canada has remained strong, because Liberals emphasize it's progressive nature. here's a recent poll: https://globalnews.ca/news/4618671/majority-canadians-support-carbon-tax-angus-reid/ …

Would a 2019 carbon tax slow movement on GND goals in 2021? (Didn't see original tweet.) Health care, where you slot people into private or public tiers of insurance, doesn't seem right analogy. Could pocket a carbon tax and keep the ball moving just as much as lose momentum.

Eh I don't see a point in trying to figure that out now, negotiating against ourselves. If/when Trump is still President in 2021 we'll figure out then what can be done.

I've read it as "insufficient" instead of "opposed." And the most responsible thing climate wonks/activists can do is to describe the scope of the problem and the vast scale of an actual solution, not analyze the marginal policy.

I think it can be part of a Green New Deal but it has to be sold right -- it has to absolutely be presented a progressive tax & not (as GOP will push) neutral or regressive.

Right, dividend should go less to the rich. I don't have any strong preference on revenue neutrality.
